The Raychem TraceTek Leak Sensing and Locating System
provides comprehensive protection against one of the
most serious threats to data centers.water! Water intrusion
is the most common insurance claim for DP installations.
Many computer systems 'drown' each year due to A/C or
CPU water line breaks, roof and/or other building leaks,
faulty sprinklers, backed up drains, etc. Dollar losses
tend to be extremely large. |
TraceTek continuously monitors underfloor areas. Its
sensing cable can detect the presence of water, pinpoint
its location and sound an alarm. The system consists
of the special Water Sensing Cable working with its
companion Alarm and Location Module.
Typical applications include use under raised computer
room floors and other critical building locations. The
versatile sensing cable can be routed in a variety of
patterns to meet individual requirements. The cable
can also be routed along chilled water lines, around
ducting, and through pipe chases.
Elements of a basic TraceTek System:
Every TraceTek leak detection system has these
basic parts:
- An alarm module
- Leader and/or jumper cables (non-sensing cables between
the module and the areas monitored
- Sensing Cable
- Accessories such as hold down clips and tags
The unique TraceTek sensing cable can detect the presence
of water at any point along its length and pinpoint
its location. The sensing cable is connected to a location
module that sounds an alarm and provides a digital readout
of the distance to the leak.
The sensing cable and the location module, together
with a non-sensing 'jumper' cable and an end termination
comprise a remarkably economical system.
The 'secret' is literally in the sensing cable. It
is rugged, yet small, lightweight and flexible. It contains
the unique conductive polymer formulated 'sensor' wires
(electrodes). It also contains other conductors used
in leak location and continuous cable continuity assurance.
A cut or broken sensing cable causes an instant alarm.
Both sensing cables and jumper cables are provided
with connectors on their ends, which will mate head
to tail. A modular end termination is required at the
outer end.
TraceTek TT1000 cable can be exposed to temperatures
up to 75°C (174°F). There are several alarm modules
available for water detection applications. The most
sophisticated alarm module is the TTDM. This state of
the art unit features liquid location with a digital
display. The TTDM monitors up to 5,000 feet of sensing
cable. It has a serial port configurable for RS-232
or RS-485. Users can tie the TTDM directly into their
network for easy and convenient monitoring.
- Can easily be installed in new or existing locations
- Senses AND locates leaks saves time
- Cable lengths from 3 to 2,000 feet
- Spot, long-line, or zone coverage
- Cable is bright yellow in color easy to spot in maze
of wires
- Detects as little as a teaspoon of water
